- Size of Hand: Carbohydrates/Primarily Fruits and Vegetables/Very Little Starches
- Size of Palm: Protein/Chicken, Fish, Beef, Turkey, Egg Whites, Low Fat Cheeses, Tofu, Veal of Low Fat Pork.
- Size of Thumb: Fats/Olive Oil, Safflower Oil, Almond Oil, Peanut, Almond, Soy and Cashew Butters, Nuts, Avocados or Olives
10 Zone No-Nos!

Bread, pastas, potatoes, rice, bagels, cereals, juices, sodas, alcohol and caffeine.
Fruit No-Nos!
Bananas, Figs, Prunes, Raisins and Grapes (Reason: High in Sugar)
Vegetable No-Nos!
Potatoes, peas, carrots and corn. (Reason: High in Sugar)
